Pre Raphaelites, all over again

It is clear that this season –Spring/Summer, for those a bit alienated from the world of Fashion- returned to extravagant references, especially after the minimalist nude from the past autumn. Blocks of colors at Jil Sander, patterns on male suits at Louis Vuitton, extravagant hair at Issa and lots of golden Accessories from New York to Milan. At the V&A, this month, the Cult of Beauty exhibition explores the most decadent period of art, in which beauty, parties and savoir vivre were the most fundamental issues. It’s funny that, since Tom Ford’s collection represented this exact same spirit, translated into a exuberant and private show last September. The feeling of exclusivity and fun are –finally! -  making their way back into fashion, after years of financial restrictions (therefore media harassments, such as blogs, street style and other cheap ways of communicating). Now that the economy is coming back up, there wouldn’t be a better time for spending your dough in something beautiful, after all, William Morris meant it when he advised us “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”. If you feel inspired by this idea, there’s one amazing book by Karim Rashid called ‘Design Yourself’ and talks about a better way for you to live your life. It’s like the Pre Raphaelites, all over again.
