Ivan

It was right outside Yoji Yamamoto’s Fashion show that our team met the most excited human being who came our way with the largest smile on his face: “Did you see me there?” -That was Ivan, one of the models casted for Yoji Yamamoto’s Fashion show. “I am so happy, it’s my first time, and I am 79! ” he exclaims. It was impossible not to like Ivan. In fact, he wasn’t the only unusual character saw on French catwalks during this Fashion Week. At Jean Paul Gautier’s there was one individual who amazed the public by his unique way of strutting down on the catwalk. On calmer lands, at Junya Watanabe’s we could see the originality of the models that had their personal accessories adapted to the styling of the show. It was fascinating to see that we have officially got to a point where fashion is not about dictating trends, but about accepting them: just like on a newspaper, every show had a new story to tell, and those characters made them much more interesting.

Standing, Waiting, Wishing
Jack Johnson released the hit album “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” 6 years ago, while he patiently waited for a very indecisive girl to pick him. Six years have gone by, so did the wave of surf music, but the wait and hope were still very present this January in Paris. The event that caused so much expectation was the Spring/Summer Menswear Fashion Week. In front of every fashion show there was an eclectic crowd composed by people who hoped to enter the events without an invitation. During one of the long freezing waits, we met the fashion devotee Pierre. After only entering 5 shows out of the 49 scheduled, he is still sure that it was worth the wait. “I love dressing up, having my pictures taken by bloggers and the excitement of trying to sneak a pick. You can see so many creative people.” Pierre is certainly not alone. Where there is a fashion week, there will be a fashion crowd on their feet for hours trying to have a petite eight-minutes-flirt with their passion, and If they are chosen to enter the guarded doors, they know that the long standing, waiting and wishing will be worth it.
